rescue a linux installation root password or grub

The second method for root password is to fill the string "single" after the parameters on grub boot step.
When grub prompt you the list of kernel availables go in edit mode usually press "e" select the item that present the kernel params and
add " single" at the end, and finally press "b" for boot.
After the initial boot a basic shell is shown, here write the canonical "passwd", insert your new password and reboot.
